At Washington’s public universities, our mission is to help you earn your degrees and build your future. You can study the arts in Eastern Washington, cybersecurity at Western, archeology at Evergreen, hospitality and event management with Central, public health at University of Washington, engineering at Washington State, or explore hundreds of other options available across the state. Pro tip: All of them are now easy to view on the Degrees page!
We have worked hard to advocate for systems that make earning a degree easier for you, like:
- Providing clear and consistent information early to prepare for university after high school.
- Making the requirements and application process simple
- Earning and transferring college credit to universities
- Finding financial aid
Now, we’ve built a new website that highlights these key features and helps you plan the best path to success at a Washington public university. Here you’ll get helpful information on how to:
APPLY
For example, on the Admissions Info page, you’ll find key dates, broken out by school, for priority, regular, and FAFSA application submissions. Back on the main Apply page, you’ll see a basic overview of the course requirements as well as an opportunity to go in-depth on coursework as you begin high school. For example, we’ll walk you through what is meant when we say “four credits of math” are required. Finally, we cover helpful tips to keep in mind about the application process for most WA public universities.
CHOOSE A DEGREE
On the Explore page, review all the ways you can earn your degree under Flexible Learning, and all the places you can choose to study on the map. As you’re getting a sense of your path, you can do a deep dive into what degree programs work best for you and where you can find them. You can browse a long list of all available bachelors’ degrees, or easily sort them by location and/or discipline, such as agriculture, communications, humanities, or many others.
GET A HEAD START
Receiving university credits while in high school is a savvy idea that we’ve demystified through our overview of Dual Credit Programs on the Get Credits page. Not only are there multiple ways to do it, certain options will work better for you than for your fellow classmates. A list of considerations and frequently asked questions makes your choice easier. We also added a dual credits database where you can look up how high school coursework translates to credits at our universities.
PAY FOR YOUR DEGREE
Whether you’re application-ready or just starting to think about it, paying for university can seem daunting. On our Paying for Your Degree page, we overview common costs and three financial aid pathways you can pursue to ease the financial burden of pursuing your degree. You’ll be glad to learn that many options exist to help out.
We hope you enjoy the easy-to-find information and tools on the new website. We’re excited for you as you pursue your degree, and glad you’re considering Washington’s public universities.
